On July 25th our defences accounted for 28 German raiders, with the loss of only five of our fighters, and this was no isolated achievement: on July 11 we brought down 23; the next best was 21 shot down on July 20. On July 29 the enemy made a fierce attack on Dover, losing seventeen planes in the short space of half an hour.
