Hey, FNG here. I'm a big WW2 buff, but don't know more than the average guy on here, except the Battle of Manilla. I wrote a novel involving WW2 and did a deep dive. Feel free to hit me up with questions about anything. Best to you all. I also make historical/military music videos. Bryan, I was listening to an interview I taped with a veteran of the fight for Manila from about 25 years ago. One of the things that stuck with me was his description that the soldiers of the 37th had to walk down the middle of the streets because not only were the buildings burning, but the telephone poles and wiring running along the streets were on fire as well.
That's really interesting. Did you happen to tape or transcribe the interview? I would hate for history to lose those perspectives. Heartbreak Ridge Intro (Greatest opening credits of all time) - YouTube
Bryan, It was a tape I transferred to digital. I interviewed dozens of veterans about the fighting on Luzon back in the nineties for articles I was writing for World War II magazine. I am now writing a book about the fighting in the mountains of Northern Luzon and am going through and transferring from tape to digital. Once the book I wrote on the Battle of Xa Cam My during the Vietnam War comes out next month I will be throwing myself wholeheartedly into my Luzon project.
Awesome- when your books are available to purchase, send me a message and I'll buy them. Little Joey-- Pallbearer - YouTube
