Good Evening!! Thomas here, currently reporting in from the land of the rising sun. I am active duty Navy stationed in Japan and I am here to do some research on my late grandfather.

As kids we never really paid attention to his stories, as few and far between as they were. He was always the old guy yelling at us. As we got older, he got a little nicer and then succumbed years later to Alzheimer's. Unfortunately this was right when I was finally out of my disrespectful teenager stage and hit my early 20's, unable to really ask him questions and get answers I would understand, because I was stationed on the other side of the country. Another sad part is Grandpa Eddie wasn't a biological father to my dad or any of my uncles, he dated my grandma for 30 years before they got married, so even they don't have in depth stories to tell about him.

Recently I have renewed interest in the old man and then my dad surprised me for Christmas by sending me copies of Grandpa's old discharge documents that he found buried away in the attic.

I will start a new thread with the info I have on him. Looking forward to the many discussions to come.

Good to have you aboard Tommy, thanks for your service. Hope one of us can help with your Grandfather's information.
By the way, us old guys don't yell--we just can't hear how loud we are politely talking :)
