I finally joined this amazing site, after lurking for so long...

I am originally from the U.S. State of California, and grew up listening to the stories of WWII vet's of all branches, from the U.S. and Canada. I am a half century old now, and cannot remember a time when I was not devouring every book, Movie, Documentary, Etc., on the subject of WWII.

As a former U.S. soldier, I was stationed in Germany at Kleber (23rd) Kaserne, Kaiserslautern, as part of the 11th A.D.A. Signal Bn. in the late 80's and early 90's. As you might guess, I spent much of my spare time traveling to the Battlefields of Western Europe. When my enlistment was up, I stayed as a civilian for another 6 years, before returning to the U.S.

What was most impressive from that time, was my conversations with many German Vets ( I am reasonably effective in the German language) from the conflict and the stories from German friends/and Girlfriends Families that lived through that era. I deeply regret not properly recording/archiving these conversations! The errors of a young Man, I guess.

Anyways, before I rudely ramble on too much, I will stop. Thanks for having me, and I look forward to enjoying this amazing site for years to come.
