I have something a friend of my dad's gave me when I was a kid maybe 25 years ago. I wish I had a picture but i'm in the midst of moving. I don't know if it was even from WW2 but i thought I'd try. Here's what it looks like- 2" to 2 1/2" it is lead Has 4 fins Looks exactly like a little toy bomb My dad's friend told me that it was dropped out of planes by the tens of thousands onto soldiers and the impact would pierce their helmets and everything else. sorry if this is the wrong thread
My guess would be a 'Lazy Dog' bomb. No explosive just an improved version of the ST-1; intended for aerial delivery: ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazy_Dog_(bomb) )
Fascinating; I'd never heard of them. The banning of them puzzles me, but then the banning of just about any weapon system puzzles me - 'It's OK to kill/maim you this way, but not that way' . ~A
Thanks you guys for replying. formerjughead gets the victory......it is exactly like the one on the top in your picture. Definitely looks like it would leave a mark.
Ah! The Puckle gun. Always a favourite. It was in a weapons book I had as a kid - some things sort of stay with you, don't they... ~A
It's a simple matter of dignity: When one gentleman bombs another it is only sporting for the dropper to allow the dropee to expire in the grand fashion of explosion and an ensuing cloud of dust anything less would simply not be propper.
