I found this at a US training camp that also held German prisoners mostly captured in North Africa.
Both the Army and Navy used this camp. I thought it was German, but the skull and bones does not match anything
    I can find.
    Can anyone I.D. this piece?

    Thank you. totenkompf-dimensions.JPG

The SS etc troops made all kinda of rings that were unofficial. Usually there was something written inside. Name or unit.

This could have been a so-called canteen ring. Could buy the army members in the barracks canteen
The skulls were often worn by tanks and SS soldiers, but every branch of the armed forces could buy these rings.
In connection with the DAK there were those as Tunis ring also with the skull and crossbones
However, these were not official insignia.
