Help identifying flags, medals etc.. pt2

    5.)Last item. Its apparently an item off a German officers uniform. A decorative material that would hang from the shoulder. i dont know if this would be enough to tell the rank or any specifics of the officer. View attachment 14852

    Looks like a Sword/Dagger knot, ('Troddel' or 'Portepee'? Can't remember).
    they can be identified by colour etc. But it ain't my thing.
    Any numbering or mark on it?

    Looked it up (only got a few books on this stuff, so there may well be more depth to identification), and it appears to be the 'Army Officer's Sabre Portepee', for swords rather than daggers. "Worn by ranks of Fanrich upwards", apparently.
    Good illustrations here of how they could be wrapped around the hilt, though I now notice there seem to be several methods.
