    Unbelievable but true....??

MI5 adviser R.V. Jones devised a plan for German spies to tell their contacts the doodlebugs were overrunning central London, meaning the Nazi scientists reduced the V1 fuel loads so the bombs would fall onto South London and the Kent area. The Enigma codebreakers, reading the German high command messages, knew the Nazis had been deceived. Home Secretary Herbert Morrison was MP for Lambeth, in South London, and was against the deceit as it meant sacrificing this area of the capital.

It seems that the British government did accept Morrison´s view and ordered the MI5 to stop its deceit of Germans but Professor RV Jones, MI5’s scientific adviser decided not to follow these instructions!!

    London, England.
This is quite well-known ; the 'double-cross' system was used to feed incorrect information back to Germany about both V1 and V2 strikes.

Oddly enough, it wasn't Kent and South London which were worst affected. It was the area around Ilford, Essex which is in direct line with Central London especially for the Hague-launched V2s.

There certainly would have been 'civil unrest' if this information had been leaked at the time.

    Why's so?

On one day 17 V2s fell on Essex and did £72'000 worth of improvements! ;)

Kinda interesting as it was put like( Herbert Morrison ):

".. why should the people in the country be seen as less important than the people in London. Can we play God on this matter..."

Or something like that. I´d think it´d be in the nation´s interest to deceit the missiles out of London if possible, but politics are weird sometimes...I guess Morrison is like saying "let the bombs drop on London we can take it!"
