    Good question.

Czekoslovakia: Peacefull occupation.Didn't some czech prime minister actually "invite" the Wehrmacht.(Under considerable pressure of course)?

Yugoslavia: As for Belgium, Netherlands they simply were in the Wehrmachts way to Greece.
And there had been a pro russian coup some days before....

Poland: Hmm, well did you forget that the poles shot first? ;)
They attacked some german radio installation....

actually those were German SS man who were dressed as the Pols.

and yes it is tru that Goring was 2nd in command but he still took orders, to a certain extend. I see that only justifies why he Bombed the civilians.

but then again, howmany civilians were killed by britisch and merican bombings. the britisch stopped with strategic bombing and started to level entire cities. strange that nobody speaks about that. Dresden says enouggh. the war is over and still it gets bombed

If you bother to check through the threads here you'll find that the subject of British Area bombing comes up quite frequently. As a perhaps pedantic point, the British never abandoned strategic bombing, it was felt (Incorrectly IMO) by senior members of Bomber command (In particular Harris) that the best way to achieve this was by Area bombing.

The war wasn't over in February 1945.

The death toll of Allied strategic bombing in Germany was something between 400,000 and 500,000 if I remember correctly.

I thought htis is supposed to by bout Goering. Oh well... And the British did firebomb pretyy much an entire German city. I watched on the history a biography about it and that American POW's had to clean basments that were full of corpses who died of CO poisning. the showe3d some footage two and it was horrible. Evan for my taste

Hamburg. Lovely city, I've visited it for a week. For the record, the USAAF also assisted, in albeit a halfhearted kind of way by launching small scale attacks during the say time as well.

Anyway Gunter, by now you should ahve realised that there is no such thing as "Off Topic" on this forum. :D

It's a joke, Gunter. You know how animals can talk in jokes? Well, that same concept, but with fewer animals and more drugs.

What I mean is that everything is possible in jokes. That in this case Göring's addiction to morphine is considered a character trait, instead of a past phase in his life.

thanks for explaining it, certainly makes more sense. But I would rather talk to a slav in their native tongue.

Are you implying that my English is incomprehensible to you? I've had several people judge my English and they generally say something altogether different.

    dresden

I realise that this is away from the original thread (split if necessary) but,
let's get things in the right proportion.
In February 1945 there was a war on! We in Britain and allies wanted it finished, it was not a world cup game!
The Germans were our enemies, we didn't have the advantage of 6o years hindsight.
Dresden was bombed on February 13th, during February the Germans
were still launching rocket bombs and you can't get more indiscriminate than V2's!
Goering I believe was relieved of his command of the Luftwaffe on February 26th.
By this date 1,050 V2's had fallen on southern England killing 2,754 persons during this month, I personally knew a lady who witnessed the
result of a V2 on a school in London, you should talk to her about Dresden and indiscriminate bombing!
Rant over, but incidentally Gunter, what is your native tongue?

Polish, and since all Slavic languages are based from the same orgin they are very similair.

I am pretty sure that the Germans first started bombing civilins in Spain during the Spanish civil war, I beleive the first were under the command of von Richthofen.
