A few links to some details of a programme set up by the UK Lottery. One of which is Heroes Return which provides a veteran with a fixed sum to visit battlefields, POW camps etc. It also plans to bring more WWII history to schools.

It's only been announced very recently and I couldn't find any details on how you would apply but I'm sure they will appear soon on the National Lottery website.

Just thought I'd make sure that all veterans or those with veterans as relatives know about it!

In the first instance, veterans apply direct to the Veterans Agency:

    Tel: 0800 169 2277

I spoke to them today as I have been writing an article on this for a UK Family History magazine. They were very helpful and it looks good for the vets with all this in place.
