My name is Harris Krinsky. I am 60, and I live in Rockport, Massachusetts. I was recently going through some of my mother's things when I discovered that my father (who died in the 1980's) served on the U.S.S. Robert H. Smith (DM23) during the Second World War. I knew nothing about my father's military service as my parents were divorced when I was young, and I had little contact with him. I was blown away when I learned that the Robert H. Smith received five battle star and the Navy Unit Commendation for its service in the Pacific theater. I obtained my father's service record and discovered he served with great honor as a Fire Controlman on the Robert H. Smith from May 1944 until the end of the war. I am now on the hunt to learn everything I can about my father's service and the Robert H. Smith. I look forward to meeting you all.
