Welcome to the forum Dave, from a woollyback! :)

Militaria collecting can be a minefield these days what with all the excellent quality fake and reproduction items that are out there. Will you be collecting allied or axis militaria?

There is a militaria fair at The Village hotel, Whiston next month which, although small, can often have some interesting items for sale. This might be a good place to start off your collecting and also give you a taste of what is on offer and also prices.
    Northern Arms Fairs

P.S. Don't forget that it's Global Scouse Day today....will you be having a bowl or two? ;-)

    Up the Pool
    Jethro Tull
    I'm going up the 'Pool
    From down the smoke below
To taste me mum's jam sarnies
    And see our Aunty Flo.
    The candy floss salesman
    Watches ladies in then sand
Down for a freaky weekend in the hope
That they'll be meeting Mr. Universe.
The iron tower smiles down upon the silver sea
    And along the Golden Mile
They'll be swigging mugs of tea.
    The politicians there,
Who've come to take the air,
While posing for the daily press
    Will look around and blame
    The mess on Edward Pier.
There'll be buckets, spades and bingo,
    Cockles, mussels, rainy days,
Seaweed and sand castles, icy waves,
    Deck chairs, rubber dinghies,
    Old vests, braces dangling down,
A suntanned stranded starfish in a daze.
    I'm going up the 'Pool
    From down the smoke below
    To taste…

That song is about the English seaside town of Blackpool. The references to the Golden Mile and iron tower give it away. And so does the mention of 'the rainy days!' :)
