    It's released at last !
1:C, the famous Russian developper of the IL2 Forgotten Battles serie finaly did it !

It's a tactical real time wargame, in which you use combined arms of infantery, from the platoon to the individual soldier, each one having it's own skills and gear, tanks, artillery, and also close air support and "off-map" arty.

It's a simulation, each weapon or tank is modelled after hisotrical data, down to the different types of ammo, each soldier carries a given amount of ammo, tanks can be damaged at various parts, soldiers can get wounded, pinned down or routed, realistic shell ballistics, armor penetration calculations and damage effects coupled with destructible environments, trenches, fortifications and individually tracked weapons, equipment, ammo and vehicles etc etc.

Many different units (trucks, APCs, ATGs, MGs, SPGs, soldiers, mortars, tanks etc) from USSR, USA, UK, Poland and France, featured in 40 solo missions and 5 historical campaigns (European front only). and, soon to be released a free to download campaign about the German assault on Moscow in November 1941 from the German and USSR perspective. The ten battles include historical engagements near Novopetrovsk, Istra, Krukovo, Yadromino, Chismena and Volokolamsk. Meeting engagements, encirclements, heavy assaults and light skirmishes during the brutal winter of 1941!

    Multiplayer up to 8 players.

Looks very interesting, I'm trying the demo right now to see if the game stands to the above promises.

I suggest you read this review from Simhq :

If you're interested, here's a link to the free demo :

Looks good. I"m not a fan of RTS games. I've tried Command and Conquer a long time ago, and got tired of it real fast.

But this seems to have some promise.

I wish someone would make a game that blends RTS to GS (Grand strategy)

So an example would be..this game...mixed in with Hearts of Iron II.

    That would be AMAZING!!

It's got too munch micro-management, bad camera angles, too much morale (your men will retreat when they see an enemy looking at them, instead of opening fire) and units will not open fire when you have them selected. Still a good game however, but I would only give it 6/10.

Joe 2. Soldiers taking cover is spot on. I don't know if you have been in combat yourself, but it is the natural reaction. A lot of emphasis is beeing made whilst training NCO's and Officers in getting their men to cope with the firefight.

I think you misunderstood me. An enemy gets within 20 meters of a guy, your guy will expose himself and run. In real life a guy would try to remain hidden.

I cant get it to work. I ordered the CD version of the game. I install it but it doesnt run. No screen to enter CD Code or anything. Just doesnt run or open. Kinda odd, since i meet or surpass all the requirements...

After testing the demo several times, I think this game is very interesting, although quite demanding on micro management.

But it also requires a powerful computer, and mine is not enough, I'll get back to it when I'll have a better rig.

@Joe : you have to select the stance of the soldiers, if you select the correct stance (don't remember the name ATM) your soldiers will remain undercover and keep their heads down even if "panicked", provided you did not left them in open field before. I agree on the view issue however : it's often hard to evaluate lines of sight, especially for long distances, without actually moving and using the icons.

@ Musso : Does the game installs a configuration application ? Or at least a conf.ini file that can be modified with a text editor ?

thats exactly what i mean! In a good game, you shouldn't need to control the soldiers like on a Role Playing game. Other than the things i commented on, the game is really good. But we all have our personal tastes.
