During the battle of Berlin, Hitler Jugend and Volksturm (Cant remember if this is the right name for them) were basically scattered around the city in pockets to defend against the attacking Russian army.

I can remember reading that one of the effective weapons of the Hitler Jugend was the Panzerfaust (again hope spelled right).

How effective were the Hitler Jugend in the fight against the Russian onslaught?

As far as I know the Battle for Berlin was essentially intense militarization of civilians in order to halt the Russian advance by any means necessary. You're right about the panzerfausts as the Soviet tanks were capable of decimating entire buildings the Germans had to make use of rockets to try to destroy the tanks before they could level whole buildings.
