I am still looking for the quote but Hitler when asked of another of his regrets on the war in 1945 said it was not pushing a Corps into Spain to take Gibraltar.
Goring, Jodl and Guderian had all advised him to do this and ignore Great Britain and any offensive there.
Franco was much more keen on the idea too that he was much later in the year when various Spanish Generals and Politicians had been bought off by the British and the head of German Intelligence Admiral Canaris was advising Franco against entry.
Franco would likely not have resisted either way had Hitler order a Corps into Spain.
Would this have changed the outcome of the war as Hitler thought?
