This is the second year running that I've decided to put up a tribute to Remembrance/Veterans/Armistice Day (November 11th). During the week of November 6th - 12th, 2005 I will keep the prominent "Poppy & Cross" image up at the top of the Forums frontpage. The image is linked to a section on WWII Network wich details the background of the poppy as a symbol of sacrifice and rememberance.

The section, located at http://ww2n.com/poppy is a permanent fixture at the WWII Network, and will be featured every year during the week of November 11th. [IMG]

I updated the Poppy page with two screen captures from the film The Great Escape. It appears the film's director & producer John Sturges had a reverence for this flower and used it as a subtle tribute to "the fifty."

The front page link to the In Flanders Fields feature has been taken down until next year.
