Okay so what really irritates is when people say the holocaust didn't happen, there were no gas chambers, or the number of jews deaths were exaggerated, and a new one, that the holocaust was a jewish plot all long because there are some newspapers that have certain lines saying 6 million jews before the war, which is creepy, but there must be some rebuff.

How do you deal with people who say these things? What are some common arguements to the statements I have provided?

Cite the thousands of works dedicated to the subject. From books to documented personal accounts. Only truly sick individuals are holocaust deniers so these thousands of documents never seem to faze them. They keep on saying the same garbage over and over. You stay on here long enough. You'll witness it.

    One way.

Mostly because, despite an almost manic interest in freedom of speech elsewhere, there are some types, like the deniers and conspiracists, who, no matter how reasonable one tries to be, years of experience have taught it's just not worth the candle.
They will make cack up 'till the cows come home, and largely want nothing more than an argument, so a brisk foxtrot has become an entirely legitimate response.

If you're really game though, Nizkor's Q&As are a fine primer on the basic fallacies and techniques used.
    Nizkor - Holocaust Educational Resource
    The IHR's Questions & Answers, and Nizkor's Responses - A Reply to the IHR/Zündel's "66 Q&A"

Read Nizkor. Read the specialist histories. Become confident of the facts and the opposition's methods of twisting them, and crack on.
Eventually though, everyone with any sense just tells them to foxtrot while pointing and laughing. It has just as much effect as logic, and if you're lucky you might trigger an aneurysm in the process.

Those who deny and come here are politely, but firmly shown the door.......well not always politely. :)

As for those who stick to their own little world or inhabit certain un-named forum's ...'cough" Stormfront"cough" its rather a long slog. Difficult to reason with unreasonable people.

Keep calm, let them twist themselves up in their own illogical mutterings. If they are salvageable sooner or later hearing foolishness coming out of their own mouths will sway them or they may try to research facts to 'support' their beliefs and be forced to realize their error.

If all they are prepared to do is continue espouse the same tired rhetoric, they probably will never change their tune no matter how many facts you put in front of them. Its not very palatable but it is often better to catch them before they are brain washed and you can best do that by continuing your interest by engaging in forums like this one.

    We keep the faith.

There's really nothing you can say or do to convince the deniers. Any fact you bring up will be countered with their theories. If you listen long enough you'll hear the same things over and over again. Deniers around here are either dismissed outright or allowed to stay so that the members can skewer him, then he's dismissed. There are whole sites devoted to denial, so people who share those ideas congregate there. It is like an echo chamber that allows the same ideas to be repeated ad nauseum.

No sense in arguing with people who ignore overwhelming evidence. can't say I met many but my advice is to void them like the plague, what little there is to learn from that horror is how to avoid a repeat, and twisting facts is not a way to learn anything.

You can't argue with such people, because their belief is not based on reality, but on antisemitism. If they can't believe the tens of thousands of hours of newsreel footage taken by the allies as they overran these camps, the hundred of thousands of pages of German records, the many thousands of firsthand accounts by soldiers, captives, the German guards themselves, then they won't be convinced.

I disagree. The point to engaging them is not to convince them they are wrong however. That's a definite plus if it happens but it's so unusual that it's not worth it in many cases. The point is to convince anyone reading the exchange who might not have formed an opinon that they are wrong. Making them look foolish is also a worthwhile and usually easily accomplished goal.

The stock neo-nazi reply is that allied bombings cut the food supply and that's the cause. Of course that ignores all the rosy cheeked fraus, frauleins and healthy kids outside the camps, but that's what you'll get from them.

The Nazis kept very detailed records at Auschwitz, including Dr. signed death certificates for each registered prisoner who died, and that the Russians captured these books but hid them. Following glasnost in 1990 the documents were made public, although some were lost by the Soviets. Here is the thing, the books can now be purchased online, google remnants of auschwitz death books, or checked out of the NY public library.

I've dealt with Deniers and other nut jobs such as '9/11 was an inside job', and so forth. Most of them are people do just don't want to accept the truth. No matter how much evidence you throw at them, they refuse to believe it. They won't be convinced, they won't change their mind simply because they don't want to. I would like to kick them in the crotch and let that be the end of it, but that's assault and I don't want to go to prison.

When I get into discussions with them I know I'm not likely to convert them. My aim is to inform readers who are not familiar with the topics and expose the deniers to ridicule. Believers like that tend to hate it when people laugh at them and their beliefs.
