New kid in town and happy to be here. Great Forum and lots of interesting topics, should have joined sooner. I'm Bob, did 9 years in the US Army Mud-Puppy corps and left as an NCO. WW2-era Military Modeling has always been of special interest to me and all subjects US-related are the main focal-point. Nowadays I'm busy running my resin products company and always coming up with something new to add to the "collection". Been modeling since 1966 and doing it professionally since 1988. If I can ever help anyone out, just give me a holler!
I di not know the Americans had an Iron Division? Why I ask is that I served in the Third British Infantry Division known as "Monty's ironsides" Until the enemy decided they had enough of me, and packed me off home in an ambulance Cheers! Sapper
Thanks again Guys. Yes, the US Iron Division is the 28th Infantry based right here in good old Pennsylvania. Cool, another Model-Builder. Howdy Ruud, don't do 76th, instead it's 72nd scale. Working on some new resin sets in that scale for next year and a whole lot of other things.
Hi Bob. Glad to have you around. I'm from Pennsylvania as well. I remember seeing stuff about the 28th on my way to Penn State (many years ago).
Thank you greybeard. The 28th's HQ is at Ft. Indiantown gap which is about a 10-15 minute drive from here. It was also used as a big POW Camp during the War Years for German Prisoners. I still remember the old wooden Barracks used for them but they are all gone now.
Welcome to the forum. I posted some pics of a memorial to the 28th I took in Normandy a couple of years ago. http://www.ww2f.com/topic/41406-28th-infantry-division-memorial-sourdeval-normandy/
