I'm new to the forum. While I have an interest in WW2 in general, my primary interest is in the more obscure theaters ie the Aegean, Burma, etc. That being said, I claim no expertise in any of this; more of an interested bystander. I hope to learn a lot from y'all.

With all of the threads/subsections/etc this place is a little overwhelming. Is there a way to get e-mail notifications when something new is posted to a thread other than one you started?

For me, every time you sign in again, or refresh the page, it will show you posts from topics you watch

I use my tablet or computer. After you log in, under Forums one of the choices is Recent Posts. Items that are new are in bold print. Things you have already looked at are grayed out. If you go to Recent Posts again, anything new will be in bold.

If you look at the top of the page you will see your login ID. Hold your cursor over that until a select window pops up then click on alert preferences. You should be able to set it up to get notified of new post through that menu. Also when you login if you see numbers under the alert or inbox hot links at the top of the page it means there are new posts there. If you hold your cursor over those areas another drop down will pop up and you can go directly to those posts by clicking on the right hot link in the appropriate text. There are often several hot links some of which will take you to the poster or elsewhere so there is a bit of a learning curve.

Lou mentioned the "recent post" hot link there's also the "new post" hot link which will take you to posts you haven't looked at yet. As a new user that includes most of them but they are listed with the most recent at the top so it's not too difficult to work your way through them. The "mark all as read" option takes everything in the forum or subforum you are in off the list as well so if you want to start with a clean slate that works.
