Okay, so here's the deal. As i've stated many times before I want to be a filmmaker. I want to have a professional career making films, video, movies, etc. However, being a young guy i'm impatient. I want to start creating stuff now. One way i've thought about doing this is on YouTube. Originally, I thought I would just make things and put them up on there but now i've run in to a sort-of dead end. I'm at the point where I don't know what to create anymore. I know i've mentioned in the past where I want to make military themed videos but I really don't know where to begin. I just feel kind of overwhelmed. I know this probably the wrong place to ask all this. (If you know of a good YouTube Creator Forum that would be great). But, do y'all know of any way I could make videos and films and YouTube and be like a filmmaker. Also, what would be a good consistent niche that I would use? Since, I love to talk about my origins, government, military, etc. i've though about that, but I just don't really know. It just seems like I have a constant need to create but I don't know what it is. I want to hear what you guys think.
So what are you wanting to do right now? Do you want to make short stories? Fiction - Non Fiction? Documentaries, docudramas? If you were a writer id just write about what you know and are passionate about...and also the advice of "just write"...don't be too precious about what, just keep doing it and the skills and techniques will begin to form. It must be a little frustrating at the moment when you consider the (millions) of stories and angles to those stories you could create...narrow you desire down a bit, articulate it and maybe we/I can help with ideas...?
CAC Right now I want to create video content. Preferably on YouTube. I've had many ideas on what to create before but it seems like im interested in too many things to niche down on one thing I could create content about. Also, i'd like to be able to make short films and movies but all the ones i'm really thinking of I cannot do at the moment. My dream situation would be for me to able to make films about things i'm interested in, in a cinematic kind of way, then make more videos featuring myself talking about those topics to my audience. It almost like I want to be a creator/vlogger kind of guy. However, I never have been and never will be good at filming myself talking to a camera in public. I did however think that I could strap a go-pro to myself and film my travels. Its just I don't do that many interesting things that often. And with the resources I have at the moment I can't attach a go-pro to my person. I hope this clears it up a bit. It's kind of hard to explain. But all in all what I am trying to really say is that I want to film my life in a way where I could give my knowledge, show my experiences, and give my insight all in a way that fits my talents. If you know what I mean.
A bit of out of the box thinking, a bit of De Bono lateral thinking...it works well in the field of film anyway. Try googling short stories, google "early film making"...and above all, watch todays music clips...this will give you many new ideas and insights on how to create a short film in an entertaining and new way...and quite often an inexpensive way. Always good to get a second person too, they can either be the camera man, or perhaps in your case, the person in front while you are behind the camera. Try using music as your base and create a film that fits with it, or the opposite... Decide, Am I trying to educate people? Am I trying to entertain people? Am I trying to move people? A good film will do all three...but if you break it up and do them separately you will become familiar with the techniques of creating these types... My last bit of advice for now is enrol in a film school...this will dramatically (see what I did there?) increase your knowledge, save you a heap of time and stop you from making rookie mistakes that can cost you passion and money. Take a squiz at "The Blair Witch Project" - blair witch project - Google Search

Good News! I done have done a good bit of thinking and researching. I have discovered that my main two passions are video and design. It is these two things that incorporate all the things I love to, learn, study, etc. I'm just having a hard time finding a way that I could possibly use these two things as a good career. At least for right now I don't have to worry about that since i'm just starting college. But anyways, for right now one way I could combine my love of the two is two create a YouTube Channel about one of my most favorite buildings materials, Legos. This not only combines my video skills but also my design skills when it comes to creating with Legos. I knew their was a reason why I was obsessed with them as a kid and why I continue to want to do stuff with them today. It also gives me the opportunity to explore more than just Legos too. For example, one thing i've discovered from all the places i've traveled is I love architecture. I love to look a buildings and try to work them out. Maybe this is why I love southern plantation homes so much. But anyways, I think this a really good idea and that I could go pretty far with it. But just in case do yall know of a way I could combine these two passions into a good career, because sadly my parents won't believe in YouTube. To become successful one there is like one in a million.
