Does anyone know of a reliable way of telling the difference between an SdKfz 251/3 & an SdKfz 251/6? From photographic evidence alone I should add.

If I don't mistake, an SdKfz 251/3 was a intercommunication machine, an SdKfz 251/6 (and an SdKfz 251/5) was a commander's machine.

looking at my encylocpedia of german tanks you are screwed as there seems to be many varients within the two types depending upon period and probably front as well as field mods.

the Encyclopedia Of German Tanks Of WWII by chamberlain and doyle has a lot of info on them and a few pics and is available as a pdf
