Unfortunately, everyone is an "expert" when the subject matter is relatively unknown.

How much of an "expert" can one become with only a mere 5 months with which to study the subject matter.

Bismark is reputed to have said something like "Only God and I understood the full Schleswig-Holstein Question and after all this time I'm not certain that I do any more".

Lord Palmerston is also reported to have said something similar

There are only three people who have understood...The Prince Consort, who is dead. A German professor, who has gone mad. And myself, who has forgotten all about it.

Or something to that effect. The wording varies according to different sources.

Coronaviruses have been discovered in the thirties. Literally ninety years ago!
This one has its quirks but it's just one of them.

    Yes...And?

SARS is similar to MERS is similar to COVID 19. However, being an expert in SARS, does not mean one is an expert in COVID 19.

A hand grenade is a explosive, so too is GBU-43b. There is a slight between the two though.

The doctor just asked me if I know where I'm at. I pointed at the laptop with this forum up.

    Who said that?
Since the thirties, numerous coronaviruses have been discovered, about fifty of them were extensively researched.

Why a person with detailed knowledge of about fifty species can't be an expert on another, freshly discovered, one.

As of 8/13 there were 122,121 cases of the virus in Pennsylvania. There were 12.8 million people in the state, as of 2019. The Southeastern part still seems to be the worst in cases. Philadelphia County. I hear the Fall is supposed to be bad, very bad. How bad?

The only important question is how many deaths there are.
Today there are lots of cases but not that many deaths. That's not going to change.

The virus isn't going to get nastier, it's not in its "best interest" to get nastier.

There is some evidence to suggest that some people who get it but don’t die may still have lasting damage...

Unfortunately, but better damaged than dead.

This virus will stay with us for every. There will be a cure but not very effective, and vaccines - even less effective.

We never had any success in our wars on coronaviruses.
And we tried really hard sometimes, as in the case of the chicken coronavirus when big money was available and the chickens didn't complain much if the vaccine killed some of them too.
