See, I already figured out the fonts.....

I'm new here, but spent a number of years in the old Prodigy Veterans board and since 1999 on the Historic channel WWII board. Too many idiots on there!
I got my wings in 1944 at Del Rio, Texas and then to the 8th Fighter Group, 35th and 80th Squadrons.
Flew from January to July 1945 in the philippines and Okinawa and then P-61 Night Fighters after that.
Back to the States in 1949 and recalled for Korea in Night Fighters again.
    All the best.......

Welcome FighterPilot80, I had about given up on you. I was told you were coming, but had problems getting through our troll defenses, which I had done my best to disable for you.

Firstly, thank your for your time spent in defense of our great nation. It appreciated by me and my family.

I hope you will find that, while we may have idiots float through from time to time, we tend to help them "find the door", so to speak.

Did you register as FighterPilot back in August?

Please, tell us more about yourself.

Yes, I registered in August and then had a total knee replacement at the end of the month. I do tend to become flustered at entry problems - Sorry.

Small add-on. I was born in El Pase, Texas at my Uncles home while my parents were visiting them. I surprised them as I was "due" in January of '25.
Grew up some in Omaha, Nebr and back home in Phoenix, Az. Stationed in Del Rio and other Texas bases. Awarded wings on Dec. 27, 1944 at Del Rio and then a ceremony at San Antonio that my Mother repinned my wings on me. Left at once for Ontario, Cal. for transition to P-38's About three weeks later, I was in a C-54 with other replacement pilots enroute to the South Pacific. Hit Pearl Harbor, Midway, Guam and the Philippines before I slept in a bed again.
I'll do some more later, okey?

Thanks, Clint! You recruited me so you get the finder's fee.
I finally stumbled through the partly open gate and got in.
THC board is being harassed again by someone I think I know, so I am laying a bit low for now.

I hope especially those like you who have been supportive on the HC or Prodigy, will not get upset if I post an updated story or two. I hpe to post about a couple "Catalina Missions" we flew to the Japanese homeland. They were lots of fun!

    Regards, and thanks.

    :D :D

    FighterPilot80:-

Welcome from an old dinosaur from WW II (ETO).

We looked up (literally to the 8th AF) many times and said
"Thank God they are coming" especially in December 1944
at the Bulge when the weather cleared.

One flight of three hedge hopping back to England in Normandy
scared the living you know what out of us as they went by
over us at about 300 feet. Didn't see them coming and they
were gone by the time we heard their engines.

Well, I certainly hope your total knee went well. I have helped with a good many of those after working in the orthopedic section of surgery as an RN for 12 years. I gave that profession up 10 years ago, however and have not looked back.

Would you rather your name be FighterPilot rather than FighterPilot80? I can make that happen if it is your preference.

If you have problems with harrassment here, please let me or one of the other moderators know ASAP.

I promise I won't let the barn get closed on you anymore!

I'm glad Clint was able to get you to come over Fighter :). We have been trying for a while to get some of the other good people to come over here. We don't need the Trolls like Saggy,Red Army,Pippen, ect here. I for one missed you knowledge, especially "First Hand" ones, that you have posted over on THC.
