    Hey guys,

So seeing how I've got a lot of time off because it's summer holidays, I'm looking for new reading material about WW2.
I've already read many books and I'm currently reading Unbroken ( brilliant book, I can't seem to be able to put it down ) and I'm looking for new suggestions.
These are the books that I already read or own:

-Band of brothers ( and all the veterans books, extended books, etc )
-Eugene Sledge's book, with the old breed.
    -Unbroken
    - almost everything Marcus Brotherton has written.
    - A helmet for my pillow by Robert Leckie
    - Islands of the damned by R.V. Burgin
    -The battered bastards of Bastogne
    - D-day with the screaming eagles

    That's about it.
Do any of you have suggestions or books that I simply have to read? I would like to read some more about the Pacific war, and a bit about the Airforce.

No not yet. I haven't heard of that.
But I'll give it a look.
    Thanks!

For the Pacfic especially the naval part:
    Shattered Sword
    Neptune's Inferno
    The First Team books

If you like lots of personal details
The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors

Not an easy read but very informative:
    The Wages of Destruction

On the computer (as well as the wealth of informatioin, much of it primary documents, at Hyperwar)
Look at the special features section at the bottom of this page:
    http://www.combinedfleet.com/kaigun.htm

There are also the articles at:
    http://www.navweaps.com/index_tech/index_tech.htm
Some are a bit dated and some a bit controversial but still worth the read IMO.

By the way I think this topic actually fits better under the book subforum.

Currently 233 gigabytes of material there. At least.

    Thank you!

Oh I'm sorry that I put this topic in the wrong section. I must have misread it.
    Sorry mods.

I will give those books a read.
Has anyone here read: Masters of the air?
    I'm considering ordering it.
    It seems very interesting.

Ok just a little off topic since it is World War One but if you enjoy reading about espionage in America read "A Dark Invasion" by Howard Blum....now back on topic...

Four books that I would highly reccomend:
A Higher Call by Adam Makos
    Eyewitness Auschwitz by Filip Muller
The Fall of Fortresses by Elmer Bendiner
The Longest Day by Cornelius Ryan

It's no big deal. The mods here are pretty laid back in any case especially for honest mistakes or help requests. I expect they'll move it before too long. Main reason is you will likely get more and better responses although Opana's one of the real experts when it comes to WWII documents and Hyperwar is an outstanding source (you can spend days just looking through it).

Another good source for US related info (as well as some other information) is CARL:
    http://www.history.army.mil/
If you look under resources/research you will find a lot of material.
This link may get you to the same material (or not):
    http://cgsc.contentdm.oclc.org/

If you are interested in coastal defences there's always:
    http://cdsg.org/

And as a source for books there's always:
    http://www.usni.org/store/books
Most if not all there books are available through other book sellers as well sometimes at significantly better prices.
