Interesting...Coningsby QRA were forever up at the Bears..Ruskies plan was to tire the intercept sqns in days leading upto war with numerous incursions. Todays bear still plays games but has no need for overflights in wartime now it has cruise missile load. Although there are int and recce versions now still. That forum poses whether blackjacks have been intercepted. They have..this nuclear armed monster has overflown UK landmass..qra at Coningsby iis busy once more. UK airspace intrusions were once limited to the big sea area and noT land. Cold war is far from over. Whilst in 2ATAF sigint HQBAOR I once caused panic when on monitoring usual Mirmansk cuba angola bear flight...it changed course towards uk landmass..had to run to civvy met office for a detailed map in middle of night not realising the effect of a breathless sigint bod would leave behind maps faalling on flooor behind as I legged it back to int cell.
