Hello all, Sorry if I am repeating myself here, but I am new to the forum. I stumbled across this site while trying to find information on my grandfather, Arthur W. Hayes. He served in the 2nd Infantry Division, 9th Inf. Regiment, E Company. He landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day +1. Archive records were destroyed in the warehouse fire some years ago. I know he was captured in October of ‘44 just after they had crossed into Germany. I even know the Stalag he was in, but just don’t recall it right now. He survived the war. I have become fascinated with reading on WWII, especially the ETO. In May, I will be crossing off a Bucket List item when I visit Bayeux in Normandy, France. I am hoping to see some of the villages he fought in. I will peruse the forums, but any information on his unit would be very much appreciated.
