Hello, my name is Lorne, otherwise known as Stuka 1942. I was born in 1962, at a time when all the kids built models. My dad owned a hobby shop, so early on, I knew all the tanks, ships, and aircraft types. From there, I soon studied all the battles and history. I am from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada). I am interested in all facets of WWII (and WWI to a lesser extent). After some 35-40 years of WWII study, I should be a useful resource and addition to this site for others. As for myself, I am always trying to expand my knowledge of WWII. I mainly read about WWII (having collected a vast library). I particularly enjoy understanding how battles & campaigns were won or lost - i.e. learning the tactical doctrines and the strategic factors. In my younger days I built models and played wargames (seldom do now). I have several projects on the go. The biggest is a WWII history (covering all facets) which I hope will eventually provide money for retirement. I am writing the kind of book series that I, myself, would most want to find in a bookstore. I also have some home-grown WWII wargame designs on the go, that still need refining. I'll be happy to share, give me a shout!
Welcome to the forums Stuka! It's great to have you, and you will most definitely learn new things around here!
Cheers and welcome to the Forums Lorne/Stuka1942, glad to have you! We do like to have authors here, and there are a few great ones who are members. Feel free to share your work here when you publish. I've also just centralized and highlighter our wargaming section, so dive in there. I can create new sub-forums for a specific game if there is interest.
