Hello everyone. I'm researching the British Ordnance QF 17-pounder anti-tank gun of the Second World War, however I can't seem to find a dedicated book to it. This puzzles me as the weapon was by no means obscure - so I thought I'd better ask around. Can anyone please point me in the correct direction in this regard? Many thanks!
I have not been able to find a book dedicated to the 17 Pounder, but this site seems fairly comprehensive. http://www.wwiiequipment.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=75:17-pounder-anti-tank-gun&catid=40:anti-tank&Itemid=58
Thanks for that information, LRusso216. Much appreciated. I wonder why nobody's written a book on it.
AFAIK there's no dedicated book......however, that's not so unusual. There are many books about the 88, but somehow Allied artillery is seen as less 'sexy'. I continually have to go back to my well-thumbed copy of Hogg's 'British & American Artillery Of WWII'.......
Only one I have ever come across, and I do not know if it is still in publication" "The 17-Pounder Anti-Tank Gun in Canadian Service" by Doug Knight, published in 2009 by Service Publications. Review: http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/ref/sp/book_sp_17pdr.shtml More information on the use of 17 pounders at Arnhem can be found in "The Gunners at Arnhem", Peter Wilkinson MC, Spurwing Publishing, East Haddon, Northton, 1999, ISBN 0-99535754-0-3. If you can find a library copy, would be best...used prices for this book can be steep.
