    "Tribute to Jacques ROOS
We learned with great sadness the passing of our friend Jacques Roos, French free of 1940, on June 5, 2020, at the age of 100
Embedded in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on June 1940, 23, Jacques Roos was one of the very first engaged in the French Forces Libre in early July 1940. First assigned to a transport company, his French course free brings him quickly to Africa: operation of Dakar, Cameroon and Chad where he joins the Leclerc column. Passage through Fort Lamy and Faya Largeau, he participated in the campaigns campaigns and holds various positions such as manager of the soldier's home, post major or admin of certain areas of the country.
After Tunisia, he joined the BM5 and took part in the campaign of Italy and then in the French campaign in the 1st French Free Division. He ended the war in 1945 with the rank of sergeant.
With the elegance and class that characterised him, Jacques Roos liked to meet his combat mates, until the last few years, at the Club de la foundation de la France Libre in Paris.
We salute the memory of a soldier of France Libre who had chosen the path of courage and honor behind General de Gaulle."
