At the moment Kelly's Heroes is on Channel 5 (yup, its after 10PM and 5 arent showing porn, WOW). Anyhow I was thinking, dont Oddballs shermans look like the post war Isralie Shermans. The reason I say this is that Oddball explains that the guns are longer than usual because they have drain pipe stuck on them, however if you look they are actually rifled right up to the end. What do you guys think?
The only thing I know about the Shermans used was that they were longbarreled Shermans. The one with the short barrel was a 76. I don't know what exact type these Shermans are.

Fair enough guys, I was wondering why they bothered with all the rubbish about why the guns looked bigger. I was not sure that they were the 75's because in once scene they show the muzzle and it looks rather larger. Cheers guys

Because if they admitted that they were 76mm gunned Shermans, it would remove the need for the Sherman having to shoot the Tiger in the rear. A 76mm Sherman could KO a Tiger from the front at approximately 300 yards. It would make a large hole (sorry about the pun) in their storyline
When the Sherman was sold to a number of countries following WWII, the old 75mm gun was removed and the later 76mm gun substituted, as we see in Kelly's Heroes. A number of Shermans used by the Pakistanis in the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War were modified like this, too. Apparently, the modification worked fine, but the radio had to be removed from the turret bustle and moved to the hull machine gunner's position. If you look closely at the Shermans when they emerge from the railroad tunnel and begin firing at the Germans, there'll be a close-up of the righthand front of one of them, and you can plainly see the radio antenna there. The Israelis had "Super-Shermans" with a 105 mm gun... I think you can see the difference in bore at first sight. So I don't think these were Israeli tanks.
