    DUBLIN - Services for Kelso C. Horne Sr. will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Adams Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Horne, 88, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, in a Dublin hospital after a brief illness. Born in Laurens County, he was the son of the late Joseph Hanley Horne and the late Maude Dell Crowder Horne. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a platoon leader in the 3rd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, which included jumping on D Day in 1944. Horne was featured on the cover of Life magazine in July 1944. He returned to his unit prior to the Battle of the Bulge. He was a retired U.S. Post Office employee.

    Survivors include his wife, Doris G. Horne of Dublin; son Kelso C. Horne Jr. of Dahlonega; sister Ella Dell Horne of Dublin; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Talking Books Section of the Laurens County Library, 801 Bellevue Ave., Dublin 31021; or to the American Cancer Society, 2216 Waverly Drive, Dublin 31021.
