Turkey has long wanted Assad gone and has supported many groups both financially and militarily. Turkeys most infamous nationalists movement are the Grey Wolves. The same ones who shot at the Russian pilots. Northern Syria is home to Turkmens. Annexation of that area into Turkey is Turkeys wet dream...

It's a mess alright. There are rumors of an offensive being planned by both Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Both are desperately seeking the US in leading the charge. Best not get involved me thinks...

A conundrum wrapped within an enigma. Not too fond of Erdogan for incinerating civilians in basements in Cizire and Silopi and Dersim and imagine the quiet countrysides outside media scrutiny? Back channel complaints are riling Erdo to no end I suppose he will grant concessions but his peculiar form of "cleansing" continues and I've yet to see him actively engage IS scumbuckets, at least he finally approved Coalition use of Incirlik (yes it was months ago), probably with lots of restrictions.

Seems Erdogan in Turkey has gone mad. Constantly shelling Syria is counter productive and endangers the fragile truce.

Hope he's not foolish enough to invade...
