    Gordon, thanks for this interesting post. I remember following the Kursk event closely. I think once raised the various parts were transported back to Russia by a Dutch heavy lift ship that we contracted with to return the USS Cole back to Mississippi to be repaired. I have posted this before a great Irony is that Thyssen-Krupp built a 3 billion dollar plant in Alabama to supply our naval ship yards in Mississippi. Would anyone have believed that in 1945. T-K has subsequently sold off the carbon steel division but retained the stainless plant. Just a few miles away EADS (AirBus) is assembling passenger jets for the general market. The world really is small.
