    The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

    Lance Cpl. Garrett W. Gamble, 20, of Sugarland, Texas, died March 11 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

    His family Brad, Chelle, and Gunner Greer and Cody Gamble reside in New Territory. The community is honoring Garrett with flags and banners in the neihgorhood.
    Garrett will be arriving at the Sugar Land Municipal Airport at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. He will be escorted to the Settegast Funeral Home at 15015 SW Freeway by the Patriot Guard.
    On Friday from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. there will be a visitation at the First United Methodist Church of Sugar Land.
    The Memorial Service will be at 10:00 Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Sugar Land with a procession to the Veteran's Houston National Cemetary at Beltway 8 and Veteran's Memorial. Garrett will be honored with a full military funeral.
    A reception following the burial will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at Parkway Methodist Church in New Territory.
    Garrett graduated from Austin High School in 2008 and immediately joined the Marines.
    In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the www.houstonmarinemoms.org.
