II./KG(J) 54 moved via Furstenfledbruck to Neuburg an der donau. A section moved to prague-Rusin. An Allied intelligence report suggested that some of II./KG 51's Me 262's had been ferried to Zerbst for use by 1./NAG 1. although this, the second Me 262 short-range recon unit had been working up since late 1944, it was not until 6 april 45 that it flew its first operation. Despite bad weather, 900 B-17's from the US 3rd division managed to attack a tank factory and armament plant in Berlin. As they returned, they were intercepted by Me 262's from I./JG 7 near Braunschweig. 2 B-17's from the 303rd and 401st bomb groups were shot down, but the latter unit also suffering 1 B-17 badly damaged. Two pilots are known to have made claims, Oberleutnant Fritz Stehle, staffelkapitän of 2./JG 7 and Oberleutnant Walter Schuck of 3./JG 7.
