"A model of a Nazi concentration camp created from Lego has been sold for £55,000. Curators at Warsaw Museum in Poland have purchased the model death camp, which was built by artist Zbigniew Libera. He made the display from the toy building bricks in 1996 after they were donated by the company, which later denied it knew what the project was about." i don't see the point of that.. That's a lot of money for legos. What's the interest in building a camp out of toy blocks. it's not disneyland, it's a place of mass genocide. millions died there. Leave the legos in the play room and get a real job.
Next project to make the camp from matches? I must wonder though why the Museum decided to pay so much money for the lego project...
I guess the "artist" has good friends among the authorities that have paid for their work... with the money of others.
I made a topic about this very topic a year ago: http://www.ww2f.com/concentration-d...anity/50261-lego-concentration-camp-kits.html
This says more about the current state of Art than it does about the Nazis or Concentration Camps. Why is this considered art? Why is a crucifix in a jar of urine considered art? When it comes to art criticism, I trust in the good judgement of janitors.
What the hell is wrong with the museum curators? Why not use barbie dolls as the women guards? Sad, very sad. As a Pole I'm insulted by this.
I remember the thread. It's still wrong, but at least the "artist" had a point to make. I will never see it, but that seems a high price to pay. It was made sixteen years ago, so I wonder what the museum was thinking.
