I've always had a big interest in local history, and was wondering if anybody had any favourite 'Local History' books.

I have quite a few, ranging from very poor (for example classing our local Bronze Age Enclosure as a 'henge', which it definately is not) to very good.

I recently bought one called 'Blitzing Vauxhall' by Owen Hardisty, which is very interesting - it is basically the diary of the author, who worked at the Vauxhall factory in Luton during the war, with additions (made in hindsight). Plus some great photos, which include pictures of Churchill tanks being assembled (including one with Mr Churchill himself inpecting them), and a great shot of the Churchill prototype being tested at Luton Hoo (the big house in 4 Weddings & a Funeral ;) ). Plus pictures of the factory, bomb damage in & around Luton, and one great Luftwaffe Recon photo taken by a recon plane that the guy noted in his diary!
