I was wondering if anyone might be able to translate the ribbon authorizations into campaign or battle locations? Thanks.

You may have to dig for other bread crumbs to sort that out. Watch letter headers and CC lists. (People who get copies.)

Get as much of a chronology as you can from the records, you may spot an over-lap that leads you to a better defined unit.

Thanks Opana. I've arranged the documents chronologically. I'm going to make a timeline for different events at the time. Not sure that I'll ever figure out what Boat Pool #1 is exactly, but I believe the 30 June 1945 refers to the Leyte Operation. With your experience in researching there, do you think there are likely to be documents at the archives where I could dig up information like this on the 7th fleet as far as boat pools? I guess I need to look over the archives site and see what might be available. A good timeline might help me pin this down.
