Hello everyone! If you've already read my introduce topic ("Greetings from Brazil"), you know that I'm producing a documentary on the life of Herr Martin Drewes, that currently lives here in Brazil. At this point, all the interviews are done, and we are now in the post-production phase. I'm looking for some footage of locations involved in Herr Martin's carrer in the Nachtjagd. As our budget doesn't allow us to go to Europe and shoot some scenes there, I was hoping to get some collaborators, who are willing to make some footage for us and receive full credits in the production, plus a copy of the final DVD product. I'm interested in the following locations: -Laon Air Base (France) -Leeuwarden Air Base (Holland) -Husum Air Base (Germany) -Lobmachtersen - specially the Volksbank agency there (Germany) -Messerschmitt Me 110 at Hendon RAF Museum (England) -Fighter Pilots Memorial (Germany) The footage I'm looking for is just an "overall" of the terrain. Very simple. If you happen to be near or at any of these locations (or knows anyone who is), and are willing to help, it would be really appreciated, as I want to make the best possible work to honor Herr Martin. He has been very kind to me and I want to give him this gift. Thanks in advance!
Hello Julio, the closest I am from any, is the Laon Athies location. It is however many hours from my home, so I don't go there every day, I will try to see if any of my friends lives closer. I can however help you with the Neron crash (Mailly Raid) . I have asked my friend there for pictures and I'm waiting for the answer. I can also go there myself and take pictures for you (graves, landscape, crashsite)
I don't know if I can help you out at all but, one thing I read is that you said he was still alive? I was told be someone about 1-2 months ago, that he had passed away? I used to write him several years ago but stopped about 5 years ago. If he indeed is still living, that certainly is great news? This mix-up has happened not just once though. A few years ago, I had been told by several people that the 4th Gunnery Officer on the Bismarck, Herr von Mullenheim-Rechberg, had passed away. However, I found out he had not passed away--but shortly after hearing that news, he indeed had passed away. Another case-in-point is Herr Klaus Feldt. If you can confirm he still lives, please tell me so. Take care and best regards.
Evans, he's quite well at 89 years old. I interviewed him last February. What a strong human being, I may say. He still drives he's car and takes care of 11 dogs!
