Hi. My wife’s uncle just passed recently. Al was 103, incredibly active, and a WW2 vet, served under Patton. My mom/law found some military stuff. One thing that was found was a small piece of metal, seems to be brass, with an insignia/ Al’s name. I asked one buddy who’s into the history, and said it’s probably something g the unit had had made. It’s the size of an ingot for metal crafting. It’s from XX Corps, 3rd Army. I’m enclosing a pic. Any help appreciated. It’s a great piece of history, and a great memory of Al. The is blurry, it says Bavaria, Germany 1945

Yeah, probably done up by the unit's metalsmiths. Not something I've seen before.

Since it is the XX Corps crest rather than an individual one, I suspect he would have been in XX Corps Headquarters.
