I am currently writing a book about the OSS for Osprey Publishing. One key component of this book will be the weapons that were used by OSS personnel. This includes standard issue weapons like Carbines, Thompsons, and Springfields, and special weapons like the HiStandard Silenced Pistol and the Silenced M3 Grease Gun. I really would like to know how they were used in the context of OSS operations, either in direct combat or supplying them to resistance groups. For any OSS veterans reading this, I would like to please know the following: Which weapons did you carry in the field? What were your likes/dislikes of its performance while conducting OSS operations? What branch were you in? (ie, SI, SO, OG, MU, etc) When and where were you in the field while conducting OSS operations? All who submit accounts will be kept anonymous, and will not be mentioned by name in the book. If you can help, please email me at Historybooks76@Hotmail.com or send me a letter to: Gene Liptak PO Box 36841 Tucson, AZ 85740 Any information that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Best, GI Gene
Welcome to the Forum. Look forward to your contributions on this aspect of the War. Have you contacted any veterans' associations or museums and archives? Just curious as to why any contributors would have their experiences published anonymously. It's usual to name such folk. Steve W.
