Does anyone know a good way to find out the NCDU number for a Seaman 2nd class? I'm researching sailor Peter Demmer who was killed June 8, 1944 on either Omaha or Utah beach in an NCDU. Thanks!
You may already have this. DEMMER, Peter M, SEA2, 6090119, Demolition Units, Normandy & bombardment of Cherbourg, June 8, 1944, (CasCode121) killed in combat, dd June 8, 1944 (bp1) + DEMMER, Peter Mathew, Seaman 2c, USNR. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Demmer, 32 Oak St., Oakfield, NY (na) He was actually "declared dead" (dd) on 8 June, but it is likely he was KIA on 6 June. Given that the NCDU on UTAH suffered 6 KIA and those on OMAHA 31, it is more likely he was on OMAHA. You could order his IDPF from St. Louis.
Hey guys, I am currently tasked with presenting a bio on Mr. Peter M. Demmer and I was hoping you could help me out. I have acquired as much information as I could from this thread but I am still looking for additional information such as early life, the extent of his military career etc. Does anyone have any helpful information? Thanks!
Hi Ben, I just recently co-authored a book on Oakfield, NY During WWII, and we profiled the Gold Star Soldiers from our town. Peter Demmer is included in that group. If you send me a message at my email address bcasalto@yahoo.com, I can give you some more details. I prefer that you contact me directly. Thanks. Lori
