This is just damn insane............................................ COLUMBUS, Ohio - A death row inmate scheduled for execution says he's too fat to be put to death, claiming executioners would have trouble finding his veins and that his weight could diminish the effectiveness of one of the lethal injection drugs. Lawyers for Richard Cooey argue in a federal lawsuit that Cooey — 5-feet-7 and 267 pounds — had poor veins when he faced execution five years ago and the problem has been worsened by weight gain. The lawsuit, filed Friday in federal court, also says prison officials have had difficulty drawing blood from Cooey for medical procedures. Cooey, 41, is sentenced to die for raping and murdering two young women in 1986. His execution is scheduled for Oct. 14. His attorneys say a drug he is taking for migraine headaches could affect the execution process. The drug Topamax, a type of seizure medication, may have created a resistance to thiopental, the drug used to put inmates to sleep before two other lethal drugs are administered, Dr. Mark Heath, a physician hired by the Ohio Public Defender's Office, said in documents filed with the court. Heath says Cooey's weight, combined with the potential drug resistance, increases the risk he would not be properly anesthetized. "All of the experts agree if the first drug doesn't work, the execution is going to be excruciating," Cooey's public defender, Kelly Culshaw Schneider, said Monday. Prison system spokeswoman Andrea Carson and Jim Gravelle, a spokesman for the Ohio Attorney General's Office, both said Monday they hadn't seen the lawsuit and couldn't comment. Last year, Carson cited the obesity of condemned inmate Christopher Newton as one of the reasons prison officials had difficulty accessing his veins before his execution. Newton was 6 feet tall and weighed 265 pounds. Two years ago, convicted killer Jeffrey Lundgren was put to death after a federal appeals court rejected his claim that he was at greater risk of experiencing pain and suffering because he was overweight and diabetic. In September 1986, Cooey, then 19, and his accomplice Clint Dickens, 17, abducted, raped and murdered Wendy Offredo, 21 and Dawn McCreery, 20. The women were headed home when Offredo's car was disabled by a rock thrown by Cooey and Dickens from a bridge over Interstate 77 in West Akron. CAN'T FIND A VEIN? ...BRING BACK THE Lex talionis!!!
Then there is that nice one at the wrist, at the base of the thumb. Shoot, if I can hit the teenie-tiny vein of a 1 month old baby, with it screaming and hollering, I'm sure that they will have no problem with Bubba. I'll bet it won't be near as painful as what his vicitms experienced.
Give him a 3-month execution stay, put him through a Müsli, water and castor oil diet for the duration, then proceed.
Padlock a Log-Chain around hid neck, take him out to the 12 mile limit, and chunk him in. Swimming lessons. The Crabs/Sharks will thank you !
Mexican Jose Medellin executed in Texas after 11th-hour delay August 06, 2008 HUNTSVILLE, Texas: Mexican-born prisoner Jose Medellin has been executed in Texas for the 1993 rape and murder of two teenage girls, despite a last-minute court hearing delaying his death by hours. The state carried out the execution today after the US Supreme Court rejected his request for a reprieve in a split vote. The 33-year-old Mexican national, the centre of an international dispute over US treaty obligations, was scheduled to die by lethal injection shortly after 6pm Texas time. But the execution remained on hold nearly four hours later as judges considered his request, until finally denying him. The case became entangled in international politics over Medellin's assertion that he was denied his right to contact the Mexican consulate after his arrest. An unlikely cast of legal allies, including the Bush administration and much of the world's diplomatic community, embraced Medellin's position, warning that the US will be accused of violating a treaty if Medellin is executed without a hearing on his consular access claim. Often, secession is discussed in Texas, and it's because of crap like this. The case pitted President George W. Bush against his home state of Texas. Texas isn't happy with hometown boy "W" right now. Medellin and five other members of a gang called the Black and Whites were convicted of raping and killing Jennifer Lee Ertman, 14, and Elizabeth Pena, 16, after the two girls stumbled into a gang initiation while going home from a party. Actually, the raping, beating, stomping, and torturing of the girls went on for five hours. Witnesses said Medellin later bragged about the assault and described using a shoelace to strangle one of the girls because he didn't have a gun. Medellin, then 19, also “put his foot on her throat because she would not die,” according to a state legal brief. Medellin strongly felt that he didn't do anything wrong, and managed to stretch his appeals out for fifteen years. As the Supreme Court reviewed Medellin's appeal, Texas Governor Rick Perry was also considering a recommendation of the state parole board to reject Medellin's request to delay the execution or commute the sentence to life. The board approved the recommendation on a 7-0 vote Monday.
One of the cruelest way I personally found in one of Solzhenitsyn´s books: You take the sail of a yacht, make it all wet. then you wrap it tightly around the "victim", put it between two poles tightly as well, and wait when it starts to get dry. You can hear the bones snap as well as probably some screaming. There´s no limit to what man can think of how to hurt other people...
Makes me wonder about the food diet in jail. After a couple of years I'd expect someone to have lost weight considering he should not eat more than anybody else. Don't they work, or at least move their asses, or do they just sit around and eat sugar?
Believe it or not, prison food is actually quite good. As part of an internship, I got a lengthy tour of Texas prisons. We ate with the prisoners. There are a number of prison industries, including carpentry, school bus renovation, and farming. Industries are open to "trustees", meaning non murder convicts with good records. For the murderers, they get an hour a day in a basketball court/gym.
Good food, free sports and a job too, well that sounds cool, almost makes you want to join the fun and gain weight.
Why don't they just lace the Ba$tard$ last meal with Cyanide? Also, did they all forget about a wonderful invention called: Guns?
Somewhat messy, but must be quicker and less painless than th guillotine. As for the messy bit, perhaps a proper container will help.
Hello Za, I hope you don't mind I deleted the pictures of these victims executed by the North Koreans.
