I can't find a straight new piece on it but here is the Wikipedia article Lynn Compton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia * edit. The article has changed and does not have date of death on. Can anyone else find anything on it?
That's strange. When you google him wiki has the first article up. In the results it shows him passing February 26, 2012. But when you open the article there is no date of death. No other site seems to show his passing at all.
Two references on message boards I don't trust, both unsourced. I'll give it some time. Remember that the passing of Major Winters went unannounced to give the family time to mourn in private.
Sadly it appears to be confirmed. Actor Damian Lewis posted a RIP notice on his Twitter account. https://twitter.com/#!/lewis_damian Messages are starting to come in to the forums over at Wild Bill Guarnere, 101st Airborne, Easy Company, A Band of Brothers RIP Lt. Compton, you will not be forgotten.
Hmmm..i get what you mean, but theres nothing sad about dieing at 90! Thats a champion effort...can i have sum of his genes please!?
I offer my deepest condolences to the family of Buck. I think I may speak for all the forum members who live in France, Belgium and Holland. Buck helped in tje liberation of our countries and we are very thankfull for it.
They are having a heck of a time on his Wikipedia page, 20+ edits since the 26th. But, with no confirmation through "official" sources, I can't say I blame them. More than a few "death" frenzies having been started with false death information posted on Wiki.
On Marcus Brotherton’s blog, “Men Who Lead Well.” Marcus is the author of several books about the men of Easy Company, and he is a member here: In Honor of Lt. Buck Compton, 1921-2012 In great sadness and tribute I write to tell of the passing late evening February 25 of Lt. Lynn “Buck” Davis Compton, one of the original Band of Brothers. Buck was a true patriot, a valiant soldier in battle, a devoted public servant, and an honorable and caring family man… The entire text of the blog can be found here: Men Who Lead Well: In honor of Lt. Here's another blog link, this time to The Oregonian. I'm guessing the information is correct. Death takes Buck Compton, one of the few remaining of the "Band of Brothers" | OregonLive.com
Here are two confirmations on straight news sites:http://www.khq.com/story/17036058/b...er-dies-at-90-in-washhttp://www.goskagit.com/
Article in The Washington Post. It says that at a birthday party in his honor last month (his birthday was December 31) he was embarrassed by the attention: “All I can say is it’s flattering — and kind of embarrassing,” Compton told the Herald. “We didn’t expect anything more than those other guys (in the war). We’re celebrating longevity more than anything.” God Bless you and all of those other guys, Mr. Compton. ‘Band of Brothers’ soldier Lynn D. ‘Buck’ Compton dies at 90 in state of Washington - The Washington Post
