Who can help me with this one. I have a Luftschutz one piece made Gladiator helmet but instead of the regular Luftschutz insignia , it has a hand painted symbol that seems to belong to a factory security unit. This is the story of the helmet. I found it covered with black paint. This black paint covered another lair of apple green (see leftovers on liner) . I endeveared to remove both old paints to get to the original blue (which was still untouched inside in the middle btw. I was hoping to save the original Luftschutz decal, but it was quite a surprise when this one came out. It still has some sports of black and green but I believe Idid a good restorationg job. I did not touch the symbol . It is original and nothing was added or removed. The liner is an ersatz cloth one .
Looks like a logo for a heavy/black/death metal band. Upside down cross from guitar in the centre. Bat-ish shape. Could easily see someone wearing that at a gig...
If it were a metal thing I'd know it not to mention my kids a re metalheads. It's not modern addition.
Really strange never seen before, it indeed looks like a metal logo. To be honest i dont think its ww2 related cause if it would be from a factory unit i'd doubt that they would use such an difficult emblem not really recognizeble on larger distance and difficult to draw by hand..
Regretfully, I believe you are in error here...What kind of metal heads are they? As this is certainly some type of Death metal/Black metal. Also, it does not necessarrily have to be a band logo, could be a person's nickname. Look's very similar, but not an exact match to Murder Nocturnal's logo
There's loads of similar logos, out there. The 'style' fits, not uncommonly with that inverted guitar cross. Sooo many teeny short-lived bands across the world, but not the sort of iconography that gets put in an archive. Satanic Warmaster! Trifixion!: Infernus! Just noticed some of these image results are from the article here. Have to say 'Nunslaughter' beats many other band names in the history of funny band names... Metal Inquisition: Upside down Cross Mania
So you think some Satanist kid used this as a biker helmet? I must admit there are some similarities with the logos you show. I'm confused now because I removed two coats of paint before I even started seeing the beginning of this emblem. I may as well remove this too then . At least I'd have a regular shell with the original paint intact.
Death/black metal have been around since the mid-80's. So, you have a easy 25-year window when this could have been put on.
I'm erring on the side of caution, because such a "font style" for band logos was not in common use in the early days, that style did not begin to appear for sometime after, but I cannot nail down a time frame(late-80s, early-90s, mid-90sm etc.)
