For the upcoming New York production of Love Goes to Press, by WWII journalists Martha Gellhorn and Virginia Cowles, I would be grateful for some assistance with pronunciation of the acronym MAAF (for Mediterranean Allied Air Forces). Would it normally have been said as: EM-AY-AY-EF EM-double-AY-EF maff [something else - what?] I received some excellent leads here last time I had a query (about the role of the Conducting Officer), and I can report that this forum has the gratitude of our director and the whole cast. Any help you can offer on this new question would be truly appreciated. If any of you are in the New York metropolitan area and would like to see the show, you can learn more about it at: Mint Theater Company Thanks, Amy Stoller Dialect Designer & Co-Dramaturg, Love Goes to Press Home - Dialect Coach - Stoller System, LLC
Similar to 'MATH' without the 'th' sound. With the various nationalities involved though, there could be some element of variation involved. Good luck!
