"Marcel sadly passed away on the 28th December at 102 years and was laid to rest on the 5th January. Marcel was the former President of the Libre Résistance Association in France. [IMG]
Marcel was born in 1921, and was parachuted into France in March 1944, aged only 23. He had nothing more than a portable radio and the mission to establish a resistance network in the eastern French region of Chalon-sur-Saône, as part of Churchill's plan to "set Europe ablaze." His radio operator codename was "Tailcoat".
Marcel became Depury Head of the MASON network which was run by Jean-Marie Regnier, alias "Porthos" in the Chalon-sur-Saône region. He trained various secret radio operators and took part in the Liberation, heading up over 300 Resistance Fighters (Maquisards)."
