I am reading Zhukov book and his numbers for forces are (YEAR 1942):

    Red Army : 5,534,500 men
    4.969 tanks
    40.978 artilery guns
    2.480 planes

    German army: over 6,000,000 men
    3.230 tanks
    57.000 artilery guns
    3.400 planes

While his numbers for RA are probably about right his numbers for German army i believe are way off...Glantz estimates Germany army on eastern front in 1942 on 3,7 milion men (allies included ).I dont get numbers for tanks, guns and airplanes from glantz for year 1942...

Does any have this numbers and or have a link where i could find 1942 numbers (before operation blau ... )

    Tx in advance!

OKKKKKKKKkkkkkkkk The Baltic Germans were mostly ethnically German inhabitants of the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea,
which today form the countries of Estonia and Latvia.

In 1881, there were approximately 46,700 Germans in Estonia (5.3% of the population.

Baltic Germans - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Centuries before the Third Reich attempted to realize its plans for domination of Central and Eastern Europe, Germany had
established itself as a major force in the Baltic Region. For nearly 800 years, Germans had wielded enormous political and
    influence in the region.

Numbers for forces for a whole year are unreliable :you should take the numbers for 1 january,1 february, etc and divide them by 12;but of course that will give you a wrong picture:the differences between the months are to great .
From Armchair general (search on RKKA) I have the following Russian strength for may 1942(troops in Siberia, etc are not included):
operational forces:5677915 with 4022 tanks and 6862 aircraft .For artillery:there is a problem:Russians are including mortars with artillery,I don't know what Zhukow is using .
    Stavka reserve:218276 with 177 tanks and 389 aircraft .
For the Germans :you can forget the Russian figures:they are much to high, for obvious reasons.
I have no much trust in the figures of Glantz :I think they are to high(maybe he is including a lot of rear elements :eek:ccupation troops, security divisions,.......).I have nothing for the German allies, but for the Germans I have the following(air force not included) compiled from Axis History forum, alas only personnel,no tanks, aircraft, artillery:
    march 1942 :2130000
    april :2240000
    may :2324000
    june :2450000
    july :2630000
    august :2573000
    september :2472000
    october :2410000
    november :2306000
the figures for july and november are dubious.
troops in Finland are not included .
I think you could find more in Das Deutsche Reich und der Zweite Weltkrieg (I think volume 5/2),but I doubt it is available in English, and ,if yes,the price will be horrendous;I was lucky to find volume 8 in German for 50 euro;I think that an English translation will be 150 $
