When you see a medal in a movie-do you sort of tense up and really get involved. Example-in the Majestic, the charcter was awarded an MOH and I was hooked on every word!!!
When I see one used in a movie--especially an old one--I look to see if it is actually real or not--when possible. In movies like: "Decision Before Dawn" ALL the uniforms--weapons--vehicles and medals--are real. This movie was filmed shortly after the war--when all this stuff was widely available. If I could just go back in time and buy every uniform and medal used in that movie--I would be very wealthy to say the least. Next time you watch the movie: "The Longest Day," look at the ribbon bars that the German Officers wear--they are all real. And at that time--fakes were probably not thought of as even a Knights Cross was worth maybe $5.00. So chances are that those badges are real in that movie too. The uniforms might be a different story. [ 30. December 2002, 06:54 PM: Message edited by: C.Evans ]
