Medieval Lives by Terry Jones (and some other guy!)

Although not a WW2 book, I wanted to recommend it.
Basically it sets out to bust the myths about how peope lived / acted in the Medieval era, and does so very well.
Admittedly it is not an exhaustive work, and it does have a big agenda. It misses out some bits & bobs, and takes a rather slanted view of some things...
But as a myth-buster, and an interest-starter it is highly recommended.

Oh, and being written by Terry Jones (yes, the ex-Python), it is well-written and rater amusing in places.

I think the show is great. I've only caught it a few times, but I think he does a very good job of it!

Well, he does know how to "bust" a myth the right way...

For example, in the episode where he was arguing that the life of Medieval peasants wasn't all that bad, he managed to choose what is probably the best time and place ever for a peasant to live during the entire Middle Ages (14th century England). It's easy to claim that a peasant had a reasonably comfortable life if you choose to look at only the very top of the iceberg!
